Helm & Stag

Our Story

Helm & Stag began with a simple belief: a watch should be more than something that tells the time. It should carry something of the person who wears it.

Wear what you stand for.

Our name reflects the values behind every watch we create: Honour. Excellence. Leadership. Mastery. Strength. Tenacity. Achievement. Guidance. They are not simply words on a page. They are the qualities we hope our watches will come to represent.

Excellence should be within reach.

We have always admired the great watchmakers of the world. Their commitment to quality, their philosophy and the presence of their timepieces have set standards worth striving for. We respect that achievement while seeking to build something with a character of its own.

A fine mechanical watch is a significant purchase, and rightly so. It need not be cheap to be attainable. We believe the pleasure of owning something beautiful and carefully made should be within reach without taking on debt or navigating artificial barriers to ownership.

Nor should anyone have to convince us that they are worthy of becoming a customer. Our responsibility is to earn your confidence, not the other way around.

A watch should make its owner feel valued, not the other way around.

An English watchmaking ambition.

Helm & Stag watches are designed, individually assembled and finished in England. Led by founder Adam, with his sister Hannah and family contributing to the wider business, we remain personally involved in the watches that carry our name.

England has a remarkable heritage of watchmaking, invention and craftsmanship. It is a tradition we respect, and one to which we hope to make our own contribution. Our ambition is to create a recognisably English name associated with character, integrity and enduring design.

Made with purpose.

From Constantia and Fortitudo to the individually finished Slateborne™ surfaces of Tabula Rasa, each watch has its own character. All share a foundation of dependable automatic movements, considered materials and careful assembly and finishing.

Made to be passed on.

We believe the true value of a watch is rarely found in its price alone. It is found in the moments it witnesses: a wedding day, a personal achievement, an ordinary afternoon that becomes a treasured memory. It is the watch a child remembers on a parent's wrist, and perhaps wears themselves one day.

A watch does not become an heirloom because it is expensive. It becomes an heirloom because it is loved.

That is what we hope to create. Watches to be worn, cherished and remembered. Watches worthy of being passed from one generation to the next.
